Hi, I'm Roxanne. I am a mumma, and an experienced Early Years and Primary School teacher and Nature Playworker with a passion for child-led play, nature and learning.

I was lucky enough to spend my formative years outside in the bush with my siblings. We were able to explore our surroundings and learn from nature. This fostered a love of the natural environment which followed me through to adulthood. I spent my teenage years on the beach, and traveled overseas to explore other areas.

I lived in Scotland and came to appreciate the seasons in Australia. I love hiking and camping and spent 2 years living in Canada where I immersed myself in the abundant hiking opportunities. Whilst in Canada I connected with some passionate educators and worked with a team who were opening a nature school.

I have worked in Nature Play for the past 7 years, both internationally and in Tasmania. I studied alternative education models and have always been passionate about this. Whilst living in Canada I worked in a range of alternative settings including Montessori schools, democratic schools, and forest schools. I also worked with home educating families with a focus on outdoor learning.

My son Theo was my main motivator for starting these groups. Seeing him connect to the natural world gives me such joy and I want to build a community of nature lovers and enthusiasts for him.

I am passionate about child-led play, nature connection and providing opportunities for children to explore developmentally appropriate risks.

I believe children learn through play and have seen evidence of this over and over again, both with my son and children around the world. Head over to the resources page for more on this!

I decided to start these groups so I can be in nature, build community and support more families to get outside.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.
